Kenyan troops have pulled out of Bardhere town in Gedo region two years after it wrestled it from Al-Shabaab control.
Shaaciye.com correspondent in the town reports the troops moved out this morning heading towards the border town of El-Wak which situates between Kenya and Somalia.
“KDF troops are moving out of Bardhere and the forces are heading to El-Wak. There are fears among locals Al-Shabaab could come back,” our correspondent said. Gedo deputy commissioner Ismail Sheikh Abdiqorah confirmed the withdrawal but noted Ethiopian and Somali forces were in control.
Kenya Defence Forces captured Bardhere town, one of Al-Shabaab remaining revenue source in July 2015.
